Thresher Shark

Beauty Of AnimalThresher Shark The Thresher Shark is also known as the Alopias Vulpinus or Fox Shark. Its name comes from the sharks unusually large tail (caudal fin), which is in most cases, as long as the shark itself, It's origin is also surrounded by mystery. Most likely, the closer relative of the Fox Shark is the Megamouth Shark. Scientific studies are ongoing to try and resolve the many mysteries that surround this unusual and unique fish. The largest known Thresher Sharks reach a length of more than 6 meters (20ft) and weigh 600 kilograms (216 pounds). Bigeye Thresers are normally the largest with Pelagic Threshers being the smallest.
These are slow growing sharks. They reach their maturity between 8 and 13 years old and live about 22 years. Again, there is quite a bit of mystery here. Some believe this shark is capable of living much longer, but simply hasen't been verified. Although Thresher Sharks love open and deep waters, they are also found in shallow waters near coastal areas. They are generally not found deeper than 500 meters (1,640ft). They favor the Pacific and Indian Oceans, especially at the continental shelves of America and Asia. But the exact habitat, again, remains largly a mystery.
In addition to electro receptors that all sharks have, which gives them they ability to detect electrical impulses from living creatures, they also have an extraordinary heat exchanger system. They're called "endoderms", which means that they have special thermoregulation. In other words, they produce heat through an internal body mechanism such as enhancing their metabolism and miscle shivering. This is largly a unique feature in Thresher Sharks. These are very athletic sharks. They are known for slaying their prey with their huge tails and are famous for special jumping techniques and behavior called "breaching" where they jump out of the water and into the air.
While hunting, they launch themselves with their whjole body out of the water and perform wild turns. They love to hunt schools of fish in the open Ocean waters and prefer Tuna, Mackerels, and someties go after certain breads of Seabirds. As with so many other aspects of this mysterious shark, the reproductive behavior is not well explored. We do know that they are ovoviviparous, which means that eggs evolve in the uterus until birth.
In general, they give birth to 2 to 5 pups at a time and the pups normally have a length of 120 to 160cm (47 to 63 inches). There is a special phenomenon called "oophagy" in the womb. The pups actually leave their eggs, still in the womb, and feed themselves with all the unfertilized eggs. The largest threat to the Thresher Shark is human fishing. Many fisherman catch them for sport, while others catch them for their fins, liver oil, tails, and flesh. Due to recent population depletion, new laws are being inacted to help protect this species from upsetting the fragile balance of the marine ecosystem, especially since these sharks have a low reproductive rate as compared to other sharks. This species poses very little threat to humans. The largest threat of injury is divers getting hit with the enormous tail. Attacks of any kind on humans are almost unheard of.

Reef Shark

Beauty Of Animal | Reef Shark | While scientists are still trying to determine exactly how many of theses species exist, we do know that many of these sharks lose their lives from getting caught in fishing nets. Not only does it significantly reduce their population, it compromises the fragile ecosystem around coral reefs. Many new laws and regulations are being put into place to protect this ever important fish.
They are a larger threat to reef divers than any other shark and are considered to be moderately dangerous to humans. Usually, Grey and Silvertip Reef pose the biggest problems to divers, especially in the presence of food. Their aggression increases when they leave the safety of coral reefs and head into open waters. The vast majority of attacks from this shark are non-fatal and usually results from the shark feeling threatened.
As you can imagine, these fish love the tropical and subtropical water at coral reefs. They are mostly found in the Indian and Pacific Oceans as well as in Japanese Waters and the Mediterranean Sea. Normally, they are seen in shallow water near the surface and don't seem to go deeper than 80 meters (260 feet). They hunt squids, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, and every type of reef fish. What's interesting is their specific technique. They have found a way to "herd" their pray against reef faces.
This species is viviparous, which means the "pup" develops inside the mother, similar to the way human babies are developed. The pregnancy period is about 1 year and they typically don't give birth to more than 5 pups at once. The average size of a pup is 120 to 160cm (4 to 5 feet). Pup sharks reach maturity after about 5 to 6 years of age.

Moray Eel

Beauty Of Animal | Moray eel | Moray eel is a large species of eel found in warm and temperate waters throughout the world. Although the snake-like appearance, moray eels (along with other eel species) in fish facts and not reptiles. Eels are found in both deep and shallow waters in tropical and sub-tropical. Although eels can be found in the cold waters sometimes, they tend to remain in the cracks in the sea rather than venturing to the beach. The largest population of eel found around tropical coral reefs where they are different marine species are found in large numbers.
There are about 200 different species of moray eels than can range in size from just a 10cm length of almost 2 meters in length. Despite their varied sizes and colors all eels are quite similar in appearance to the body elongated, slightly flattened toward the tail. Eels also has large eyes and a mouth that contains large teeth. Moray eels are animals relative secrecy, spent a lot of time hiding in holes and crevices among rocks and coral on the sea floor. By spending most of their time hiding, moray eels can still be seen from predators and also able to ambush any unsuspecting prey that passes.
Kinds Of Eel

As with many other large fish, moray eels are carnivores living on a diet consisting of meat alone. Fish, molluscs including squid and cuttlefish, and crustaceans such as crabs are the main source of food for moray eels. Moray eel is often one of the most dominant predators in the environment but moray eels hunt by some other animals, including other large fish such as grouper and barracuda, sharks and humans.
Eels tend to marry when warm water towards the end of summer. Fertilization moray eels are oviparous, which means that the egg and sperm are fertilized outside the womb, in the surrounding water, known as spawning. More than 10,000 eggs can be released at the time, which develop into larvae and become part of the plankton. It can take up to one year for moray eel larvae have grown large enough to swim into the ocean to join the community.

Coelacanth

Beauty Of Animal | Coelacanth | More closely related to tetrapods than stingrays, fish is considered to be transitional species between fish and tetrapods until the first Latimeria specimen was found off the east coast of South Africa, from River Chalumna (now Tyolomnqa) in 1938. Museum curator Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer discovered the fish among the catch of a local fisherman, Captain Hendrick Goosen, on December 23, 1938. A local chemistry professor, JLB Smith, confirmed the importance of fish to the famous cable: "MOST IMPORTANT PRESERVE SKELETON AND GILLS = FISH DESCRIBED"
As a food fish the coelacanth is almost worthless, as a network that delivers oil emits rotten meat taste. Coelacanth survival continues to be threatened by sea commercial trawling. Fish is part of a sea king Sarcopterygii clade, or lobe-finned fish. Externally, there are several characteristics that distinguish from other coelacanth lobe-finned fish. They have a three-lobed tail fin, also called flippers trilobate. A secondary tail that extends past the line and main tail separates the top and bottom of the coelacanth. Cosmoid scale acts as a thick armor that protects the outside of the coelacanth. There are also some internal characteristic that helps in differentiating from another coelacanth lobe-finned fish.
Formed the core of the coelacanth is different from most modern fish, the heart chambers arranged in a straight tube. The coelacanth braincase is 98.5% filled with fat, only 1.5% of the braincase containing brain tissue. Cheek of the coelacanth is unique because very small opercular bone and soft tissue flap holds the opercular. Coelacanth also contains a unique rostral organ in the ethmoid region of the braincase. Also unique to the coelacanth is still there, is the "lungs fat" or fat full single-lobed lung vestigial Sea king fish usually caught when a local fisherman fishing for Oilfish.

Fishermen will sometimes rip Coelacanth is not a Oilfish because they traditionally fish in the evening when Oilfish (and coelacanth) are eaten. Before scientists became interested in coelacanths, they are thrown back into the water if caught. Before the 1980's, this is a problem for coelacanth population. In the 1980s, international aid gave fiberglass boats for local fishermen and fishing out of the area resulted in a more productive Coelacanth fish waters.

Scorpion Fish

Beauty Of Animal | Scorpion Fish | Scorpion Fish or Scorpaenidae, the scorpion fish, are a family of mostly marine fish that includes many of the world's most venomous species.  A scorpion fish is a group of predatory, marine fish that are found amongst coral reefs and in shallow waters in the more temperate oceans.  . There are more than 200 recognised species of scorpion fish, hiding amongst the ocean reefs and in artificial aquariums around the world. Scorpion fish are kept in tanks by numerous people because of their interesting appearance and behaviour.
The body of the scorpion fish is often cover in feathery fins that help the scorpion fish to camouflage itself into the surrounding coral. The colours and markings of the scorpion fish are also used to help the scorpion fish to hide. Scorpion fish are nocturnal predators, and spend the daylight hours resting in a hidden crevice in the coral. Scorpion fish are also able to ambush their prey from this position and often catch small fish by surprise.
Scorpion fish are omnivorous fish and hunt small fish, crustaceans and snails on the coral reefs. Scorpion fish are able to stun their prey with their venom before eating it. Scorpion fish also use their venomous sting to fend off unwanted predators. The scorpion fish is a very dominant predator in it's environment, and therefore the scorpion fish has very few natural predators. The human catching the scorpion fish to keep in tanks is the biggest threat to the scorpion fish along with habitat loss from the destruction of coral reefs. Large fish and sea lions are also known to hunt scorpion fish.
The female scorpion fish releases between 2,000 and 15,000 eggs into the water which are fertilised by the male scorpion fish. The scorpion fish eggs hatch in just 2 days and the tiny scorpion fish fry remain near the surface of the water until they are bigger.  . In addition to the name scorpion fish, informal names for family members include "firefish", "turkeyfish", "dragonfish", and "stingfish", usually with adjectives added.
General characteristics of family members include a compressed body, ridges and/or spines on the head, one or two spines on the operculum, and three to five spines on the preopercle. Most species are bottom-dwellers that feed on crustaceans and smaller fish. . When not ambushing, lionfish may herd the fish, shrimp, or crab in to a corner before swallowing. Scorpionfish feed by opening their mouth, then their gills a fraction of a second apart, creating suction. Stripers, grouper, bass, snook, frogfish, toadfish, sculpin, etc., also feed this way, but the scorpionfish, toadfish and sculpins are the only members of this group that have jaw teeth.

Siamese Fighting Fish

Beauty Of Animal | Siamese Fighting Fish | The Siamese fighting fish is a small and colourful carnivorous species of fish found in the Mekong River that runs through a number of countries in south-east Asia. The Siamese fighting fish is native to the Mekong delta in south-east Asia and although the Siamese fighting fish can today be found naturally in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia, it is thought to have originated from Thailand. The Siamese fighting fish was given its name in Thai ikan bettah which means biting fish! The Siamese fighting fish is known for its feisty temperament displayed towards other males and smaller species of fish and can often display very aggressive behaviour towards any animals that the Siamese fighting fish sees as a threat towards it .
The Siamese fighting fish is easily recognised due to the beautiful colours displayed on the body of the Siamese fighting fish. Siamese fighting fish also have long and elaborate coloured fins, which are longer on the male Siamese fighting fish than the fins of the female Siamese fighting fish. The fins of the Siamese fighting fish look particularly elaborate due to the fact that the body of the Siamese fighting fish is relatively small. The Siamese fighting fish is a carnivorous species of animals and therefore, the diet Siamese fighting fish is meat based. Siamese fighting fish mainly eat insects and brine shrimp and also the larger food particles that are part of the plankton in the water.

Due to it's small size, bright colours and long, attractive fins, the Siamese fighting fish is preyed about by many other animals. The predators of the Siamese fighting fish include larger fish, cats, newts, salamanders, birds and humans who catch the Siamese fighting fish to keep in tanks at home.
The Siamese fighting fish mate in a fashion that involves the male Siamese fighting fish and female Siamese fighting fish spiralling around each other. Between 10 and 45 eggs are released and fertilized at each embrace. Once the female Siamese fighting fish has released all of her eggs, she is chased away from the territory of the male Siamese fighting fish, as it is likely that she'll eat the eggs. The male Siamese fighting fish carefully keeps every egg in his bubble nest, making sure none fall to the bottom, and repairing the bubble nest as needed. The incubation period of the eggs of the Siamese fighting fish is a few days. The Siamese fighting fish only lives for up to 5 years, but the Siamese fighting fish normally will only get to the age of 2 or 3.
The Siamese fighting fish is a fairly hassle free fish to keep in a small aquarium where there only a few fish. The Siamese fighting fish is also a popular aquarium fish due to it's brightly coloured body and elaborate fins. The Siamese fighting fish only has a short lifespan though which means that they won't get to as old as the fish in the garden pond!

Piranha

Beauty Of Animal | Piranha | The piranha or pirana is a member of the Characidae family in the Characiformes order, and omnivorous freshwater fish inhabiting the rivers of South America. In Venezuela, and called caribes. Are known for their teeth sharp and voracious appetite for meat.Piranhas belong to the species Serrasalminae, which also includes closely related to the voracious fish. such as pacus. Traditionally, only four races Pristobrycon, Pygocentrus, and Serrasalmus Pygopristis is true that the Piranhas, because of the specialized teeth. However, a recent analysis showed that if the piranha group is to be precursors, should be restricted to Serrasalmus, and part of the Pygocentrus Pristobrycon, or extended to include these items in addition to Pygopristis, Catoprion and striolatus Pristobrycon. Pygopristis was found to be more closely Catoprion other piranha species of the three.

The total number of piranha species is unknown and disputed, and new species are still described. Estimates range from 30 to less than found on more than 60.Piranhas in the Amazon basin, the Orinoco, in rivers of Guyana, Paraguay and Parana, and Sao Francisco River systems. Some species of piranha and a wide geographic ranges, occurring in more than one of the major basins mentioned above, while the other seems to be more limited distributions.

It introduced Piranhas Basin to parts of the United States, with the samples found in some cases in the Potomac River, and Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, and even as far north as Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin, although they usually do not survive the cold winter.has also been the discovery of piranhas in the Kaptai Lake in southeastern Bangladesh. Research is being conducted to determine how Piranhas moved to the far corners of this kind in the world of the native. It is believed that some rogue exotic fish traders have released them in the lake to avoid falling by forces antipoaching.
